- 2012 Kubota L5740, 1970 IH 2444, John Deere x485
I've been researching root grapples since I bought the Kubota L5740 back in December. I've sent many of you folks private message and read a ton of threads here on TBN.. I decided on this Land Pride for several reasons, but was a little concerned about the weight (880 lbs. I believe) but it seems like it will be fine for my needs.. I tried it out as soon as I got it on with no ballast except the loaded tires, and it is quite heavy, so I remembered the old ballast barrel my brothers made for our old IH 2000 about a hundred years ago.. Dug it out and put it on this morning and it's much better balanced.. I haven't tried lifting anything too heavy, but have a plan to add more ballast weight if needed, and it will be removable.. OK, I know that pictures are mandatory here on TBN so I'll try . Thanks for looking, love this forum !!!
Testing it out Sunday before adding ballast..Needs ballast for sure, so went real easy.
Much better now..
I figure this is somewhere between 300-400 lbs. but really don't know. Planning to modify it to add removable weights.
