Farmi winch

I'm considering a farmi winch for my Mahindra 2516 and I'm looking at the farmi JL290 which is rated for 17 to 30 PTO HP.
The winch weighs 390lbs

Would this be a good match for my tractor?

Your tractor is just about the same as my B7610. I have the JL290 and it works GREAT on it.
It will pull just about anything you are willing to pull behind the tractor. Very powerful units.
You are not far from me ( Concord ) if you want to stop by and see it/try it.
I highly suggest getting a self release snacth block anlong with the chocker chains. Makes life so much easier!

I have used my JL290 constantly in the past 11 years for both firewood and softwood saw logs on a 30 hp tractor. It has not given me a spec of trouble. Here are a couple more pics of a JL290 at work.

Great pictures Gordon, im looking at a new one, I sold a bunch of stuff and I'm almost there Lol. I figure I can't go wrong spending the money for it, even if I end up having to sell it,it should hold its value pretty well.
My 2516 only has 21.5 PTOhp, it's on the low end of the JL290's rating but I don't intend to winch multiple logs or anything over 15 to 18 inches in diameter. It will make my life a lot easier the older I get.

I was wondering when you were going to reply to this thread. How's mud season, drying out quick I hope. I'm hoping to get up to camp before the end of May.

I have a few blowdowns that I need to pull out this coming weekend. I plan on having the video camera with me, and hopefully, I can post a video.

I am on the north slope so mud season was late starting but the warm up was very slow. No real warm weather until this week. Things thawed slowly so the mud wasn't bad. The only places that I have that are still to wet are the places that are always wet except for August. It could be different up in the Lewis area. I have been fishing up in Orleans and it dryed up quicker up there than down here, They had less snow during the winter.

SlickHeadHunter, try to take the BotaNut up on his generous offer for the demo. You will be so far ahead of the game in getting started if you do. Winches are the greatest but like any tool there is a learning curve. I remember when I started. I did so many things the hard way because I had no clue. Here is another picture. A snatch block behind the tractor in the trail and a slider chokered high to the close tree to lift and pull the cut and hung tree from behind the stump and big root.

This past weekend I sure could have used one! This one area I had 4 red oaks Down and I didn't have very much room to move. I would pull a log ten feet,unhook, move back,then another ten feet until I had it behind my tractor to pull out. Very frustrating!
