I'm looking at a used Johnson model 30 front end loader that is on a JD 950.
I'd like to mount it on my JD 855 but can't find any information on Johnson Loaders.
Are they still in business, can you still get parts, are they any good?
I need to make a decision by tomorrow at lunch time.
Thanks

If the loader is in decent shape, and the price is right, Id chance it.

Goin' to look at it in a couple of hours. From the pictures it looks pretty
decent he's asking $1800 for it.
From my searching it appears that Johnson went out of business in the
early 90's. Because they are no longer around I'm begining to have doubts
at that price.
I wouldn't be able to get any support for adapting it to my JD 855 or if I
needed parts for it. I'm pretty handy and have worked around fabrication
my whole life and don't mind making a bracket or two but I don't feel like
getting into a major project this summer.
I spent several hours on the internet last night but there just isn't anything
at all about Johnson Hydralics Mfg. Usually one can find some history about
these companies that went under or someone that sold or installed or used
the equipment but in this case I'm finding nota, that's got me a little nervous.
I found a few discussions where they were used on smaller garden tractors and
it looks a little lighter than the Westendorf Loader of today, but I'm not needing
to move a lot. My tractor is a 2w drive with turf tires so I'm realistic about how
much I can move with it. I just wanted one for some light lifting like some snow
in the winter and a dirt or gravel pile in the summer.

Assets of Johnson Hyd Equip were acquired in the 1970's by arps division of chromalloy who continued to make the "Johnson Workhorse" loaders until 1983 when the ARPS division was acquired by Ameriquip Corp, I have no idea if ameriquip continued with the loaders or not but they currently list no info about them on their website , only the backhoe line.
