I have a Case 580B Backhoe with a Diesel Motor in it, and a Shuttle Transmission . My problem is I am getting Diesel Fuel in my Engine Oil. I have tried Shutting the fuel off and letting it run till it starts running out of fuel, But that still doesn't help at all. One guy told me it is the injectors and another guy told me it is the Seal on the front of the Fuel Pump. But I am just not sure what to do. If I pull the Pump off , How hard is it to change the Seal in the front of the pump and put it back on?? Help!!!! Any suggestions ??

get a service manual for that machine at your local dealer, and try posting in the heavy equipment section and not the attachments section. You will more than likely get a better response over there.

I inherited a Case 530 construction king back hoe with 188 diesel engine. I just pulled off and put back on the injector pump. There are two seals on the injector pump shaft. If one of them is crimped and put on wrong, it will leak diesel (from the pump) down into the crankcase. Sounds like you need to pull it and put new seals in.

This guy can help you....he rebuilt my pump and was a fountain of knowledge. He also has instructions on his web page.

Lift pump could be bad also ... that would be my first check. in 25 yrs 98% of the ones I have seen getting fuel in the oil is from the lift pump.
