A co-worker has offered me this RFM for $100, that he hasn't used in a while. I am sure it needs a little work, and it is probably bigger than I need or should use on a regular basis but I thought if get it in working order I could trade it or sell it it for a smaller one, overall it looks in pretty good shape. It's got a replacement belt and 1 pulley included that needs replacing.

Should I buy it or is it junk and leave it alone ?

I think you could get $100 in parts and scrap off the thing. PTO shaft. Gearbox. Blades. Seems like a no brainer.

I'd buy that in a heartbeat...most likely needs work, but still appears to be a great deal.

I would buy it for $100. However....

I found a 48" KK Rotary Mower in the weeds when I moved into the development where I live. Many parts had been scavenged off the KK 48" unit to keep a KK 72" unit running. KK parts are VERY expensive. It cost me $350 to replace the missing bits. At least 1/3 of those parts could have been made from metal stock from the hardware store if I had time, but I did not have time.

(The Parts Department at KK in Alabama is helpful and shipping is fast. Parts diagrams are on-line at KK's site.)

Having made that warning, your potential mower looks to be in about the same shape as mine, and I have had zero problems after replacing the missing frame parts. Check the gearbox early. The gearbox on my unit was empty. Probably the RFM was left upside down at some point in its sad prior life.

I am pretty sure the RFM you are considering is too large for your B2620 to power.

i would check the gearbox for Oil. If it has that and turns the blades. and the spindles look (and feel) OK. I would say jump on it. Might need a seam welded or two, and some wire wheeling, and prime and paint.. but overall it looks like it is there to me. I would be inclined to buy it.

Thanks for the comments. Was glad when I got it home gearbox was full of good looking oil and easy to turn, looks like 2 spindles need replacing or rebuilding. He gave me one with the belt so maybe replace it and the belt, clean it up a bit and grease everything then give it a try to see how bad the other one is.
I weighed it and was only 495 lbs I thought it would be over 600 lbs, but I think it's bigger than I need to use regularly maybe i can find someone to trade a smaller brush mower for it later.

I don't know what that exact mower goes for new, but IMO, if you were to trade it for a brush mower, you'd probably be getting a bad deal. Around here on Craigslist, used finish mowers tend to go for around $1000, and used rotary cutters tend to go for around $500.

Heck, on Craigslist around here all you need to do is paint it JD green, right over the rust, stencil John Dear (have to spell it wrong, that is required) on it and list it for $2,000:D

I would buy it no thoughts!! Its worth $50+ in scrap steel!!

The belt is prolly gonna run you north of $50 if bought at a dealer or parts place but can be had cheaper on ebay. You got a good deal.
