Snow Blade 9' snow plow ok for Kubota L5740 ??

Trying to get ahead of the curve for a change and shopping for a quick attach snow plow and 3 pt. pto driven sander. Looking at a Herd 1200S spreader and a Land Pride 9' plow.

Any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated !!

I dont suggest the quik attach version. I went the other route on my L3400 and made a subframe to mount the plow to and used the loader hydraulics to run it. The subframe stays on all winter and comes off in the spring time. Just a thought, lots of users on here have mounted it to the loader and it has worked out well for them.

I mounted a 8ft.Curtis to my FEL on my L4240 HSTC and it handles it easily.I have loaded R1's.No problem at all.I had a sub-frame six ft. on a L3130 HST,it worked well but was too limited for height.Your tractor should handle a nine ft.

I have a 7' edge blade. The tractor handle it very good, you could probably go to a 8'. My biggest problem is when the ground is not frozen the plow sinks in with the loader in float. I have a 750lb blade plus the weight of the loader running on 6'' skid shoes. It does really good when I move the loader up and down with the contour of the land but that is hard to do at times. Also with the loader in float the front gets light and your not getting full advantage of 4WD. I wish I would have converted a truck plow or got one that was suspended by a chain. That way you would keep the weight of the loader on the tractor. If you don't want one that is suspended by chain look at the Bobcat blades. They are very nice for the money. I would have gone with one but the local dealers either wanted more than retail or would not return my call.

I have a Herd 750s spreader. After getting it I would opt for the 1200s as it doesn't hold enough sand for me. The only issues I have are the sand will freeze and not fall down to the bottom of the hopper. The agitator inside does help but not as well as I expected. If temps are near freezing I doubt it would be an issue but it seams like we get rain and then the temp drops to zero and in minutes it turns to a sheet of ice. I buy sand by the truckload so it's just sand. If I mixed in salt (or another deicing product) it would work just fine. Secondly even when it's as low as it can go it's still a bit of a lift to get sand inside it. A small conveyor belt would be real handy.

I agree with 94Bullitt concerning the size. If you go wider than 8', traction/maneuverability will be hard to come by.

You should do just fine with a 9' plow.

Dont go too small. IF you get into some really wet and heavy stuff that you are struggling with, you can always take a smaller bite. But you can never take a larger bite with a plow too small.
