I want a 3PT verticutter!!!!!!!

Like your idea of old tiller converted.

I've looked at power rakes, but they are too much $$$$.

If I could find an old tiller (mine is NEW and I hate to give it up for this), I'd weld up bars to cut the ground.

Not sure I'd want to put sickle sections on there though--think they'd end up getting knocked off and might be a tire hazard then. The reason I know this is I built a "harrow" with the teeth being 5/16 x 2 " bar. I had one bad weld (ok several) and lost a tooth in the yard. Fortunately, it came up and I found it before a tire hit it..... Son and I ended up having a "welding match" to see who could do better. Surprisingly, his were very good, considering I've welded YEARS longer than he has--he's just starting.

Thanks for the ideas on the tiller--I like it.

Murph Thanks for that estate rake site. I wrote to them to get some pricing information. That does look like it would do what I had in mind. MIke

Re: I want a 3PT verticutter!!!!!!!

Yes,I have a 5' Agri-Tech Tiller that I don't use much anymore, one day this Winter I will take it apart and get it to the Machine Shop.

Like most tillers it has "guide shoes" on the edges, this will held control the depth on the slice, but there is always a hidden rock or something else to churn up.

Donnie used sickle sections simply because they are sharp and can be easily replaced, the new brackets that are welded on the hub have two small holes in them so the sections can be riveted to the brackets, but I'm sure there will be a section or two that takes a left /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I am working on a frame modification to a 54" front tine dethatcher so I can use it with my front hydraulics for lifting and transport. It is a JD attachment that I bought with my retired 445. It works well with my 2210 except the lift mechanism was not compatible. Works great. De-thatch out front at the same time I mow. I have a mulching deck so the "mulched thatch" is returned to the soil for decomposition.

Here is another after-market front de-thatcher. JRCO De-thatcher They may be able to build a mount for your tractor. They do make a 60" model.

My front tine dethatcher and my Turfco core aerator are my favorite and most productive lawn care implements.

Gave you the wrong page. This is the dethatcher that appear to have more possibility for modification for a CUT.

Bigpete Thanks for that web site. The pull behind 60" dethatcher looks like it would meet my needs. I use a 6' Bushhog rear finish mower so it will mean two trips instead of the one trip a front mount would require. But I only use the tine rake two or three times a year so two trips over the lawn is no big deal. Again thanks for the tip on the web site location. MIke
