    Default Brush Hog blades

Sorry for the noob question but I bought an old, used 5' howse brush hog that needs a bit of work. Mainly, one of the blades is bent up and hitting the top of the cutter. Do I need a Howse blade, or are they a universal thing that I can find at Tractor Supply or something like that? Otherwise it should have a new pto shaft as the existing is missing a bit of the shield and the connection to the tractor pto has a "pin" connection but my tractor doesn't have a hole in the shaft. Aside from this it actually cuts pretty good.

You can use blades from TSC unless yours has oddball blades (it shouldn't)....as long as the general profile is similar, you're set.

The best thing to do is take the unbent blade with you when you go shopping. Your local TSC may have them, it seems like they sell KK equipment.

TSC has a good assortment of blades. Just take your old one to match up the size and length. I think all the pin holes are the same. I would replace both blades at the same time to keep the rig in balance. Check the mounting bolts also when you take off the blades. They may be worn and need replacing also.

Your pto shaft i think may be whacked out ? The pin side goes on the bushog side so thats not even the right shaft, sounds like you have the tractor coupler end on the gearbox of the hog and then trying to attach the wrong end to your tractor, either way its wrong as you figued out.

But not every gearbox has a bolt or "pin" hole so you cant connect it the right way if your gear box is not a smoth inmput shaft that will take that shaft.

I agree that it's best to replace both blades to keep them balanced unless you find one that is a perfect match and the other blade is not worn at all (very unlikely).
