Well,
I finally have the W.R. Long HJ-2 on and working. It's on a (3 week old) Kubota B2910 w/LA402 loader. I bought it with a 4 position bucket option on the FEL valve...something I learned I would need by way of this forum. I am happy to report that everything is working well, but it didn't start that way. My dealer picked up the tractor when the bucket arrived and did the install. Dropped it off a couple of days ago while I was out of town. Upon returning I was anxious to give it a trial. You can imagine my dissapointment when I pressed the joy stick button and tried to dump(open) and roll-back(close) and nothing happened. I tried repeatedly with the same result. After sitting there a bit a thought occured to me. I tried the button with the lift control. The jaws opened and closed! I guess my dealer was not well informmed on these products...and I would not have thought that I would have to leave "directions."
Anyway, today I did some hose swapping and now all is well. As prescribed by Mark C., (thank you!) it closes on roll back and opens on dump...as long as I don't pass the detent into "regen" dump mode (the upper jaw drops to closed.)
Thanks to all of the posters here, I now have what I know will be a very useful addition to my loader. I know that from my 15 years of not having one on my previous loader.
If anyone is interested I can give more details, and will try to shoot a few pictures of the set-up, especially the remote electric valve and plumbing. That was the hardest part for me to visualize beforehand. May take a week as I leave town again soon.

I hope you enjoy the 4n1. You can a little more comfort in knowing that Mr. Long at the mfg. is a real fine fellow that's always happy to help a user. They are a small family business in Tarboro NC.

If you didn't get a tootbar bar or teeth with the bucket .. you may want to give yourself one... On a B2710 , it will really help the tractor load the bucket more and faster.

Let us know when you get the "back dragging with the two edges" skill mastered. That's when you will really love the 4n1.

Have fun.

Thanks Steve and Bird.
I did have a couple of conversations with folks at Long, and you are right, they are very friendly and helpful. Told me about how they responded to some of the valving issues that have been brought up here. I did get the tooth bar and the regular front blade wear bar as well. The products look well made. I am sure it will take me some time to get the hang of the back cutting with both blades but I will have a chance with some of the earth shaping I am planning this spring....which now seems soooo far away.

Bill, congrats on the 4-1. I've got a lot of land to clear and wish I had one. Know you will get a lot of use out of it.
