Kubota's webpage lists the smallest BH77 backhoe bucket size as 10". Are smaller sizes available (8" or 6"), or are their ways to dig a narrower trench than 10"?
Very true as my 7" and even my 12" is hard to remove wet material from it. The 7" works great for trenching in dry conditions though. You either have to work it in really wet (it dumps OK then) or really dry because when in a plastic state, clay really holds tight. If you have a lot of clay in your soil, a smaller bucket is sometimes hard to empty. I have a lot of clay, so I use an 18" bucket.
