I've seen sickle bar mowers in two setups ( mayb be more? but I've seen two types ).
1 is the standard.. mid mount.. like on cub/farmall, etc.
2 is in a tow behind or 3pt? setup for another tractor.

Any idea if anyone is still making sickle bar mowers? I currently have a belly mower on my 66' IH cub.. but it is a bit of a drain on the engine. I've learned how to angle it, etc.. and it cuts good now.. just no 'bush-hogging' with it.

I havn't measured.. but am guessing ine is a ? 40" deck.. dunno .

I hear the cubs can run a 60" sickle bar though... just as easy.

Anyone have info on either model? availability/price.. I'm assuming the tow behind is made for tractors with the standard asae 1 3/8 pto.. 540 rpm... not the cubs pto.. which is a smaller spline... which.. I don't even know the rpm of.. go figure...

One of my neighbors has a 3PH sickle bar mower on his JD tractor (not sure which model, but it is a mid size CUT). It hooks up to the hitch and hangs off one side - probably about 60", maybe 72" cut. I think it has a wheel on the end to keep it straight. I've seen it in action and it works great, especially for larger types of weeds. It is reasonably new (maybe five years old?), so I'm sure that you can find them for whatever setup you have. Not sure about cost, but I'm certain they're more than I can afford /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

Soundguy,
Evidently you missed the whole recent thread on sickle bar mowers that ended up going into what seemed a dealer [censored] match to me.
But to answer your question, Mark at CC Machinery has them for 3PH. Looked like Ken Sweet had some of the same ones on order, according to his website, but cancelled them for some reason /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Here's a pic of one at CC Machinery Sickle bar mower

Sweets mowers may have the same color scheme but they are not from the same MFG. From a picture taken from his lot you can see his mower is fixed and does not have the float spring or mechanical life as the CCM Super 65.

Inspector, you look like you know the reasons. Do you know? Reasons aren't mentioned on their web site of SweetTractors.
Also, if, according to CCI poster, these two mowers; Sweet mower which was said to be "cancelled" on their web site and CCM sickle mower are two different mowers, is the one KD100 at Agri Supply http://www.agri-supply.com/catmain/2000009.htm same as Sweet or CCM sickle mower or another completely different mower?

The mowers that are marked as cancelled on Swett's website were the same mowers that CCI has available. Ken decided to discontinue selling them. As far as the mowers at Agri-Suplly......?? I have no idea which ones they are.

Inspector507,
Absolutely not are Sweet's Super 65's the same as the CCM Super 65. Inspector507, if you will just look at the pictures in the links above, You will see that Sweet's mowers have a fixed frame mower. The CCM mowers have a mechanical sicklebar lift and a spring float. Sweet's mowers do not have these features. There is also an optional hydraulic lift available for the CCM mowers. Comparing Sweet's mowers to the CCM mowers, is like saying a Jinma is the same as a Kubota because they are both made in ASIA.

CCI,
OK..............my apologies........you're right my info was incorrect. From now on I will keep my big trap shut unless I know what is fact.
