Which One do you want to know about?
Ted is on a mission now....after repeated advice from several members that recommend heavy, heavy box blades.

Our ETA Severe Xtreme Boxblade is designed extremely well, has many nice features and hasn't let us down at all.

After seeing recommendations for heavier on a regular basis here on TBN, he wants to make an even heavier box blade and would like some opinions on which blades are the best in the 800-1,200 pound range.

Let us know what you think is the best heavy box blade on the market, why you like it and what you would do to improve it.
One of his favorites is the SR series from Woods. He is not interested in making a rollover box.

What do you think guys??

I would just provide a top frame on existing BB so owner could easily add/remove weight in the form of rocks/pipe/weights/etc to meet weight needs.

An economical unit for you guys would be to just copy the one that you make now, just use some 3/8" & 1/2" steel.

I seriously doubt that you will find a better unit than this one from Woods. All of the industrial units are the best that there are. That's why they are the units than come on the industrial use tractors. I don't know if it can be improved. ;)

I like my Land Pride HR3584, but if I could afford it, I would buy the Woods/Gannon HD24496HXD mentioned by MtnViewRanch for our M8540 and keep the LP for sole use on our L5740.

My son just picked up an 8' box blade of unknown make that I REALLY liked. We estimate it weighs about 800lbs, has one scarier per foot and a full piano style hinge on the rear ( rather than 3 or 4 hinges......don't know if it makes a difference but it seems better made). It has a heavy plate steel A frame and gussets at all horizontal intersections of the 3PTH frame.

I have always used a 5' box blade and never had enough weight to really grade my drive without spending a LOT of time breaking up the top and making many, many passes over it. This thing is like the terminator! I will admit, I could never use the scarifiers with my tractor (24HP) but it would pull a full box of gravel without spinning. It is unbelievably easier to maintain a grade with it over the 5', obviously because of the width but it also doesn't bounce or allow any wash boarding.

My back field was full of small Russian olives, briars, honey suckle and 2-3" willows and needed mowed. I took it out the and simply drug it over the field to knock everything down. It pulled the olives, briars and honey suckle out by the roots and knocking the willows down then pulling back over them broke them off at ground level.

The power and weight limitations of my tractor would never let me use this box blade to it full ability and he is flipping it to pay for books this semester ( buyer is here picking it up as I type) but I am a believer on the advantages of a well made, heavy blade. Best of luck on your endeavor!!

What will ETA call this proposed heavier version?

SUPER-CALAFRAGALISTIC-EXPIALADOCIOUS Box Blade?

I HAD to ask.

My sr 20 or 25 (6 footer) is a load to say the least for my Kioti ck35.
