MacKissic chipper shredder (the big one)

The chipper knives are easy to tell, big stuff quites self feeding.

What are the symptoms of dull shredder blades? (free swinging)

During the wash down after reshredding a pile of chippings, I observed that the blades ARE a bit rounded.

Still seems to make little ones out of big ones though.

Wet sticks Suck!

Hello CalG,

Usually shredder "hammers" are only changed when they
are broken so its a bit of a judgement call and whether you
really want to change them as they only become ineffective
when they are broken AND short.

I would make sure that the screen or screens you use are
clean and free of debris to permit fast screening.

When the hammers get rounded, they won't pull stuff in. You have to push it in. The rounding has no effect on the actual shredding. You have 4 corners; so you can rotate them 3 times before all corners get rounded. If your bigger ones hammers are as easy to change out/rotate as on my smaller Mighty Mac, it's a piece of cake to do.
