Value of 5' Woods light duty rotary cutter?

I bought a 5' Woods light duty rotary cutter about 4 years ago for 950 from my neighbor. Last fall, I bought a 6' Brown Rotary Cutter, 10 times more capable than the Woods (of course I paid a whole lot more for it too :laughing

I haven't used the 5' Woods unit since. I'd like to sell it since it just sits now. It cuts great, there is oil, not grease, in the gear box, but it has some bent sheet metal on the back from backing into saplings (then again, so does the Brown mower).

Any ideas on what it would be worth? I was thinking of advertising for $750 on craigslist, does that sound in the ball park? I hate to over price something, and I hate to give it away. I'm just looking for a fair value of what this may be worth, for both parties involved.

Used prices may be a bit more near your home but that would be top dollar around here. With new standard duty cutters available at that price, most will jump on the new shiny one. I am not saying it is not worth it, but I think it would sell for about $500-600 if it is in average shape.

Man. There is no way that I would find a trashed old one for that price here. Three point attachments are usually selling so high around here that it is better to buy new.
I wonder what it would cost to ship it to me?

I was going to say a bit lower, but hard to say without looking at it.

Light duty "no-name" mowers around me are usually $200ish. Being it is a woods, maybe 100-200 more??

But then again, I always seem to see alot that are way overpriced too. And those are the ones I see the most of because they dont sell and keep getting re-listed. Like old light blue painted KK and ford hogs, that are light duty and look wore out, listed for $600 +

I didn't realize that prices were so "regional". Looks like I'm probably somewhere in the ball park for my region then. I wonder if I over paid for it when I bought it, I may have, who knows. I don't like to haggle and I don't care if I don't get top dollar for it, so I'll probably put it on craigslist for something like 650 and see what happens. I'd rather just get rid of it fast anyways than deal with the hassles.

How do you like your Sylvan Pontoon boat? I have a 22' Weeres tooner with a 115 4 stroke Merc. We have more fun on that boat than my parents 37' Egg Harbor!

Here in the midwest, 5' implements seem to be a dime a dozen. As are n-series fords in this area. There is certainly no shortage of 5' hogs, and 6' blades on c-list. Anywhere from brand-new looking to scrap condition. So they are pretty cheap my way.

Heck, I see bushhog brand 105 cutters frequently (and own one) for $250-$300 all the time. And thats a comparable light duty cutter to your woods.

I've actually noticed that as well. Even with tractors it seems they are a lot cheaper out in the mid west, I guess there are just so many more of them out there? Anything I've ever found on craigslist for under 500 is absolute junk in my opinion. If it's even in half way decent condition you can get a lot more than 200-300 dollars for just about any cutter, even a light duty 4' cutter will fetch 500 or more.

I remember you commenting that you paid 250 or so for a Bush Hog 306? That is an absolute steal of a deal!

Yep. Something like 200 or 250 is what I paid. But if you remember, it looked bad and had a big gash in the deck. Still very solid and worthy of fixing and painting though. But I "assume" the guy thought it was just another light duty 6' cutter. Cause thats about what they bring as well. I know it was good though.

Sure, there are listings asking way more money. But it is unlikely IMO that they will sell for what they ask.

And actually, just quickly searching, this is the fewest about of bargain cutters I have seen in awhile. Wrong time of year I guess. But it dont take too much searching to find working light duty cutters for 200-300. And a few hundred more (400-500) gets good looking like new ones often.
