Hi,

Hope this is the right place to post for this issue.

I recently purchased a Bulldog BD1616 Backhoe and wondered if anybody else had experienced the same appalling finish and lack of quality control that has been my experience. The boom and bucket look like they have been painted on top of rust. Pins that secure the boom are held in place with nuts and bolts that are of different lengths. Two bolts that would have secured pins were missing entirely, and there were no transport securing pins for the boom supplied. At least 10 grease nipples are not functional and will have to be replaced, and there are leaks from the hydrolic control system that I will have to investigate.

I find this degree of quality control appalling, but would be interested in knowing what other people think. Maybe I am just to fussy.

Why not inform your dealer and ask them to take care of these problems?

I have informed the dealer, who offered to exchange the unit, but that is not easy for me as I have no lifting facilities and transport is not easy for me. I only have a small box trailer (7X4). Also I am not going to pay the dealer to travel the approx 100 kilometers to my place to fix what is really bad quality workmanship. The unit looks like it has been packaged up for shipment as the assembly guy was trying to finish his work. Anyway what is he going to do about the paint being applied over rust?

I thank you for your reply, but I was just inquiring to members of this forum if this sort of quality of finish was usual. I have never bought a tractor mounted backhoe before, but if I ever bought another I would be much more observant of the finish quality.
