Food plot implements

I finally saved up enough cash to get all but the brush hog for installing and maintaining the series of food plots I have. I've been doing most of the work manually so this should be a huge improvement labor wise and should also increase the quality of my efforts!
I bought a Fred Cain 5 shank cultivator,ETA 60in cultipacker, ETA 3.0 rake, and an Agrex 250 spreader.

Once I figure out what cutter size and brand of brush cutters I will order it

You may want to add some sort of sprayer also.Helps greatly with the weeds.I do all my site work with the tractor,the sprayer goes on the ATV.

I have a 60" bush hog and do a couple of two acre food plots. Takes quite a few passes. It is much better at my smaller plots that are odd shaped and in the tougher places to get to. It is not a mower but a brush cutter that almost beats the forage down as cut it. Really good for saplings, etc.

IMO you need either a disc or tiller. Discs are cheaper and a lot faster but take more passes. All we use is a disc and spreader for our plots, though we would cultipack if we ha one

I thought of a disk, but there are lots of rocks, my thought would be to use the ripper to loosen everything up, then rake the crap out of it, cultipack it and seed it. Then hit it again with the cultipacker for seed/soil contact

Here are some pictures taken of the new plot I'm in the process of making. I cut all the trees down and had the neighbor use his excavator to stump it and remove the huge boulders(if you look along the edge you can see some of the huge rocks) it's ready to be raked then ripped.

I'll be using it this winter for spreading sand, will let you know then! I also ordered the sand deflector, anxious to see how that works.

I too have been looking for the right tool to improve small pastures. Kasco has a no till drill, does anyone have experience with the Kasco units or other similar brands?
