    Default Quick Hitch?

Howdy! HEY! I purchased a quick-hitch from Harbor Freight. Works fine for SOME of my attachments. I have a blanket harrow, rototiller, grader blade and small ditcher I use on a Kioti CK35. Problem I have run into is the heighth of the top on the quick hitch. It is about 18" high from the bottom but SOME of my implements are 24" high to the top pin. Is there some kind of an adapter that I need? Thanks, Frosty

    You need one of these.

Various places sell them. They are Top Link Adapters for implements that are too tall for a quickhitch.

Thanks SYSOP, I will check with a tractor dealer around here. Appreciate the info AND the pic! Frosty

You can try the bracket, but it may not work if your implements actually have a 24" spacing. 18" is standard for conventional 3 point hitch and 15" is the specified spacing for quick hitch attachments. The top link adapter I have would have to be completely vertical to come close to making up the 6 inch gap, which would not be a good way to attach something. (The top link attaches to the point on the QH where the tractor top link attaches and is 18" above the lower pins.)

I would look at your implements and see if you can add a new top attachment point at either 18" or 15" and then directly use the QH hook.

The bracket will work but I think the best thing to do is to modify the implements to work with the QH.

I have a thread on the Harbor Freight Qh and somethings I did to it.

Thank you fellas for your input, all appreciated. I don't have tools/know-how (welder, cutting torch) to do mods. I guess I will be able to use it somewhat but I think I try an adapter and see how that works out. Frosty

You can make a simple adapter with whatever hole spacing you need for your implements. The adapter doesn't have to fit inside the implement frame.

If you look carefully at the equipment, you may find that drilling holes is all that is necessary. The upper link on a Cat I hitch is 3/4". With a good bi-metal hole saw, you can add holes quickly.

You have to do what Frosty did to the top link to make it work right. I did the same thing with mine, but I can weld. You can get the Land Pride implement bushings, they make them in several lengths. I get the long ones and cut to fit, both bottom and top. Get their manual on line free it has the part #s. You will also need the flex brackets for implements such as mowers so they will flex up when hitting obstructions..

I know this is an old thread but I am currently running into this problem with my box blade. I need to purchase something like this for my Priefert quick hitch. I have seen people describe putting this on with the U attached to the quick hitch and the straight piece attached to the implement. Why can't you put a pin through one of the 2 holes on the U then use the hook that is on the quick hitch to grab it? Is it not wide enough for the hook to fit in? I haven't purchased one yet and have read where people are having to make modifications of all types to everything to get these quick hitches to work with numerous implements. I purchased the Priefert because it's adjustable and was hoping to bypass most of these problems. I have limited mechanical skills and no welding tools.

    Thanks for the help...

    Terri
