Here is my ballast box build, with ideas borrowed from many folks here. I lucked onto a great deal for the box itself. From there, it was just a matter of buying pvc and concrete, then finding the time to fill it. Finally did that yesterday. I didn't take a pic of the finished product but will and will update the post.

The pics are in reverse order of what I intended to attach them.
First shows the pvc in place. I had previously drilled a 5/16" drain hole in the box in the center of each pvc.
Second is just another view of the box itself.
Third shows the box partially filled with crete, then I added close to 500 lbs of steel plates I had lying around.

I ended up using ten 80 lb bags of 4000 psi crete, so with water it's hard telling what the weight is. With the added steel, I'm guessing it will weigh anywhere from 1200 to 1500 lbs.

I feel that an error was made imbedding steel weights with holes and handles into the concrete.
Left outside, they could be used for other purposes.. And add value to more applications. Like front end weights. or "adjustable" rear weight.

But...it's your......;=)

I normally would agree. I had them made out of one large plate about 15 years ago. I used them for 1 year and then after upgrading tractors they sat, unused, since. I thought about welding some sort of holders to the outside of the box to add the steel weights, but didn't think the 1/8" steel would hold up and wanted everything enclosed inside to reduce size so it wouldn't catch on anything.

Well, not really mine, but I touched them!. I was fortunate to be in Paris, recently, and attended a show in front of the Eiffel Tower and I was Soooo impressed with the size of the tractors. I'm use to the compact size. Fendt was one of the sponsors of the event.
These front weights were cast metal and heavy 2500 kg and 1800kg or 5500 lbs and 3960 lbs. Lots of you might be familiar with this size tractors. I was in awe! Wife in one and I'm in the other.
