Default JD HX 6 or HX 7 Rotary Cutter.

Hi I am new here. I didnt see anything posted about the new HX 6 or 7 John deere cutters. I have a 5093e and want to tear up some lighter sage brush in Eastern Oregon. Any advice?

We have a 5105m, but had looked at the 5093e. I think they are the same size (isn). Our old 6' cutter wouldn't cover the tire tracks and ended up getting an 8' dual spindle. I really like it because it doesn't stick out so far. I would think you would have lots of power to run the 7' but I am not familiar with sage. Maybe just a little slower if it is tougher? Its really nice to cover your tracks with the cutter.

Thank you Brent. that was a very valuable reply about the 6 footer not covering the tracks. Thank you. I will get a 7 footer at least. Yes Sage is tough with some having 3 inch stalk. I looked at the 5105m and liked it better, but I got a real super deal on the 2013 5093e for 37,000.00. That was 8000.00 cheaper than I could locate nationwide. Got it up in Washington state. The 5105m was very nice! I'd like to hear how that works out for you as it is basically the same tractor but with higher quality materials right down to the hitch parts. Please keep in touch. Thank you , Marco

We have aHX6 and the only thing I wish is that it had been a HX7. The HX6 is plenty heavy for my small tractor and the HX7 would be way too much.

My pet 1960 vintage 435 is too light even with the heavy 2-53 up front but the width is good. Has lots of power though.
Good weight and power ratio with the 1640 but the mower if too narrow and the loader makes the outfit awkward.
