What this \"Overseeder\" thing anyhow?
I've saw references to Overseeders. Besides what the name implies, what's the theory behind these items?

Re: What this \"Overseeder\" thing anyhow?
Gomez, I may be wrong here but I think over seeding is just spreading out more seed over your grass. I know I over seed in the spring and fall after I've first used a plug aerator several time on the pasture and yard, and put out some fertilizer.
My brother used a seed drill to over seed his pasture about 5 weeks ago. Wow, what a difference. From now on I'll use a seed drill to over seed. You should be able to rent a seed drill from most big farm supply places close to you. By drilling the seed into the soil as it is put out you don't have to worry about the seed washing away in the first rain.

An over seeder is a drill that has disks to cut into sod to sow the seed, where a normal seede drops the seed to the ground and is covered by soil as the seeder passes.
Over seeder costs more than seeder
