Default Another which Mott is this thread

This is a 5 footer I found on CL. If it takes different parts from the standard model 60, I would appreciate any & all info. Does anyone know how much this weighs? It appears to be in fair shape, cleaning, painting & a new set of flails at the least will make this a nice winter project.

This one is a 7.5, weight is 1,053 pounds. Maybe you can do the math to get an idea what a 5' would weigh.

Well, the math says 700#, but it looks like you have quarter inch side frames vs 3/16 on mine. I imagine there are a few other differences, rough cut vs fine cut etc. Somewhere around 650# would be my guess. It will be interesting to see how my little B2620 handles the weight.

Yep, I have skimmed most of that thread & will take the time to peruse it a bit more closely this weekend. We are due some bad weather that will probably keep me in close proximity to the wood stove.

    Thanks

Got a set of blades for it & did a small amount of cutting today. It seems to work ok.

Can someone clear up something for me?

In the manual I found it talks about independently floating lift arms

I believe I have a set of the chains, but cannot figure out how I can use them. Anyone with pics showing them in use?

    Thanks

You would replace the lift arm links, with chains, so the mower will raise the individual lift arm on uneven ground.

In this drawing they are "lift arm leveling assembly"

Post a picture of your 3 point hitch if you have any questions.

I was suffering from tunnel vision I guess. Looked over the situation this morning & it became obvious. I will have to modify the chains to make them fit my tractor.

    Thanks for the pic.

Time for a update. The weather wasn't too bad today, so I got some paint squirted on it.

An orange Mott. It looks like a 60" super heavy duty fine cut. The heavy duty model uses a 2" pipe cutter shaft and SHD uses a 4" pipe cutter shaft. Good Find. You don't need to worry too much about the chains unless you have a lot of undulations or hills where you're mowing. Set the cutting height with the rear roller.

Paint job looks good. I have an old one that needs painting. How much prep work did you do as in sanding, priming, etc?
