Bushmaster Rotary Cutter Stump Jumper Failure?
I have a Bushmaster Rotary Cutter for my Bobcat T190. I had the unit about year when it was determined that the stump jumper had a metal failure. The blade bolts, which have a flat side, were spinning in the hole in the stump jumper. The hole in the stump jumper is in the shape of a "D". The flat side of the bolt going through the "D" shaped hole is supposed to keep the bolt from spinning. The metal on the stump jumper apparently was not hard enough and the bolt began to spin and caused the "D" shaped hole to become a "O" shaped hole.
Bushmaster warrantied the stump jumper. It is now 3 years later and I am having the exact same issue. The bolts are spinning in the stump jumper and "wallowing" out the "D" shaped hole into an "O" shaped hole. The bolts are tight. You cannot tighten or loosen them. I had to cut them off with a torch. They are not loose and causing the holes to wear.
Bushmaster said they warrantied it once and will not warranty it again. I have asked them what I can do to keep this from happening again and they said they do not know. They acknowledged that they did have a metal failure with their stump jumpers a few years ago but refuse to accept that this could be the cause with my current issue. They have instructed me to just weld the bolts onto the stump jumper however, due to liability issues I am unable to do that. I am now forced to buy a new stump jumper.
Do you have any comments on welding the bolts and nuts in place as long as the blades can swing freely as instructed by Bushmaster.
Any Ideas? Any Comments?
I have been very satisfied with this cutter. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an economical non-commercial cutter. But, I'm dissatisfied with their assistance with this matter.
