Recently bought an MX6 (RC) at an auction and did not notice it had cat 2 pins. I have a cat 1 3-point and have been unable to find off-shelf replacement pins. 3.5" of length on the thread side "might" work, 4"+ would be better but after much internet searching, nothing. Link Pins listed as Extra-long are long on the link side which I do not need. OEM sells them but I would rather not pay $40/pin. Any resources or suggestions I could try?

Try Tractor Supply if you have one near, or Tractor Supply .com :)

Any pics of the cutter? I am unfamiliar with the mx6 but it seems odd that you need 4" of thread. Even for cat II, 4" is alot of threads.

I have taken cat II pins and turned them down to 7/8" on a lathe before. With a lathe, and the old pins, it would only take ~5 minutes to peel the 1/4" difference off. Do you know anyone with a lathe? If you were near me, I would certainly do it for under $40.

You can always put some cat 2 bushings on your tractors lift arms.

JD MX6 is their medium duty 72" RC, it typically comes with Cat 1 pins but a Cat 2 option is available which adds another brace and heavier pins. Because of the added brace the Cat 2 Pine is too long to work even after being turned.

Changing lifts to Cat 2 is a good idea except I have 3 other Cat 1 attachments.

I am not positive, but I think you can and should remove the extra brace.

I am assuming the "extra" brace is the outside piece. I think it is there to be a spacer mostly, from the looks, cause cat II usually needs that extra spacing. structurally, that brace dont look to be doing a whole lot.

Yes - the brace is part of the cat 2 option to increase the width between the lift arms and is removed. The thickness of the remaining square tubing and braces is just over 3.25".
