how much better are the new c-channel rakes over the old angle iorn rakes?

Hello all, I am looking at getting a landscape rake at some point, and have not seen much on craigslist over that last several months. (I live near tourists, not farmers) Just noticed Tractor supply has an older & much faded (starting to rust) 7ft king kutter on clearance, but are the new c-channel style rakes really much better? I know this one is not quick hitch, and I would have to convert it to be, where the new styles are all QH. I have plasma and mig so the QH conversion may not be to bad, just time and materials. It would see only occasional use at best (at this point), but If there is a huge positive difference to channel type, I may consider waiting. As always thanks for any helpful responses.

That's the way mine is. I have several LP implements and they have all given good service. I have not had a problem with the rake except to tighten a bolt now and then. The tines are easy to spring if you get one caught on a root or rock. Actually you are in effect buying a used implement. Will you get a guarantee like a new one? How much is the offered discount. I would negotiate once all those facts are known. My self, if I did not get 30% off i would pass and buy a new one. You can probably negotiate at least a 10% discount on a new one. I never pay the asking price even on new stuff unless dealing with a corporate store where the manager has no power to act. I am in the process of buying a LP 6 way back blade and my tractor dealer is giving me 15% off with no haggling; over a phone call. I have looked for a used one but the tilting/offset type are not out there in that market.

It looks somewhat stronger, but the main advantage seems to be you can quickly remove all tines at once with a handful of bolts the angle iron ones as you see use a TON of bolts. Not sure why you'd want to though, perhaps some people will remove every other tine or something for letting larger stuff through.

I have that same 7' KK and it's been fine. I've done some had things with it such as pulling rocks/concrete out of grass/dirt, and moved some big things it holds up extremely well.
