If you go by the pictures on their websites you're absolutely right. The picture of the yellow Tarter is the same exact picture TSC is using.

no i'm going by what i have seen at three stores in my area. They are Tarter and have their badging and labels on them so no question who made them.

All tillers are not created equal. No having said that weight is your friend in the case of a 3 point tiller. You need weight for it to dig. If you going to get one, I highly recommend you check with you local agg dealer and see what they rent. Believe me you will not find any junk in their fleet as they get abused. I tried out a few before getting one of their used ones. More than 60% of new price and hardly used. I wanted to be sure I had the power to operate. I have a Bobcat CT 235 with 27 pto HP and I am easily running a Ansung Terra Force YJR074 tiller. This is a 74 inch wide tiller normally rated for 50HP This unit weighs in at about 1000 lbs and is one sweet unit, built like a tank. As I have hydrostatic drive, I can just slow down and let it work. I can also set it shallow and in a couple of passes at a fast speed prepare a pasture for replanting - used it to skim the high spots off first

On other feature of my Ansung Terra Force YJR074 tiller, is I can set the springs on the tail gate to compress and level the soil behind the unit - not too many out there allow you to do this. Its a great feature to have. I looked at a lot of tillers before getting this one. Also I can get parts - check on that before you buy

First you want enough width to cover your rear tires, if not consider an offset one to cover at least one tire. Counter rotating tillers will throw stuff into the rear of your tractor, if you want that go ahead.

Just my 02, but look at the construction, check welds, and sheet metal thickness. parts availability and if possibly talk to others that have the brand. You pay for what you get and there is some cheap stamped metal parts ones out there.

. . . but I did watch the video to see Ann. She is kinda cute!

Yeah - I bet she's been the deciding factor for lots of sales!

I may have gotten a bad batch of blades, but I had to replace 6 on my 5' Tarter tiller in about a years time. All broke with a fracture running across the mounting holes. No other issues than that (other than getting water contamination out of the gear box on delivery).

Land Pride makes good tillers also. The price is just a tad higher than others (except Kuhn.....which is good also) but it is made a tad better. It has the clevis hitch and mine has a solid steel drive shaft as I understand it. I figured the chain drive is as good as gear drive. After all, many machines do use and have used chain drives for years and years. And the forward tine tilling seemed fine to me. Most of us will probably not live longer than our tillers anyway.

And besides, it is mostly made in USA by Kansans living in a rural area. And they make good stuff and need the jobs......Oh, the PTO that I have was "made in China"..........oh well.

The gearbox on my Bush Hog brand rotary cutter was made in China also, but I've never had a problem with it (or any other part on the cutter). It's about 5 years old and has seen some rough stuff.
But i do wish it was made here in the USA because of supporting our fellow Americans.

I think the gearbox on my Countyline tiller was made in China too. I've never had a problem with it neither.

The PTO shaft on my KK was made in China, no idea on the gearbox or blades. Rest of it says they are made in USA.

I've never noticed where the gearbox was made on my Bush Hog tiller. Always thought it was Alabama. I'm curious now and will check.

Travis,
Have you ever bought new tines for your tiller? Where did you order them? My tiller turns 10 years old this spring, and I have some well worn tines.

I've never had to replace the tines yet. Looked at them the other day and they still got a lot of life left. You should be able to order replacement tines from any King Kutter dealer, The King Kutter website, or Tractor Supply.. Maybe even Agri Supply also. There is a King Kutter dealer here on TBN. He is "McGeesEquip" or something like that. I talked to him on the phone and he was a very nice person. You might wanna give him a shout. There is no doubt that I'd surely buy from him. His website is www.equipmentbarn.net
