This disc is for sale on Craigslist, says "Need some bearings but discs otherwise in good shape $600 call or text". I texted him and he doesn't know what make/model it is and says there is no tag either, also asked disc diameter and he thinks about 16". That sounds fairly small to me so either it's a light duty piece or the discs are worn badly. Unfortunately I don't know much about discs so does anyone recognize what model this might be so I can look it up or have any insite.
Thanks

See if it has friction (cast) bearings or ball bearings. If cast, stay away unless you know where you can get parts. Ken Sweet

Having done a few discs myself, this is very good advice. Don't pay too much for something that is presently non-operable and not worth much without the work.

Thanks ken, that's the kind of advice I was looking for, I wouldn't have thought of that.

Regarding cast bearings, they are replaceable if you can find the parts, but they do take a lot (and I mean a lot) of grease. I was able to get parts for an old Kewanee I bought last year. Unfortunately, I don't recognize the disc in your picture, so I'm afraid I'll be of little to no help.

In highly abrasive soil old timers will tell you to skip the grease since it just forms an abrasive paste to wear the bearings. In clay or loam, no problem and grease away.

Even if you do find the cast bearings, be prepared for sticker shock when you ask the price if no aftermarkets are available. I once priced some bearings at around $350 each. In fact, the price of parts needed was so outrageous the disc stayed as junk until someone actually wanted to buy it from me and offered a pretty good price. I sold and then it became his learning experience.
