Unicorn Wood Splitter

really didn't need clarification... it was just a joke. Though I thought that with the laughing face at the end of my post I would not need to clarify that to anyone... let alone 2 people. But yes, as you stated- at least someone made a useful comment.

On a different note however, these sound interesting. I am going to have to look for a video to see one working. Kind of like the rack gear driven DR log splitter. I am just skeptical of the longevity of the DR.

They are dangerous becase there is no safety cut off if you get tangled up in it. There are videos of barkbustersnon youtube. They got outlawed.

yep.

They work well, but are super dangerous, like an exposed pto shaft, If things get ugly, they will get real ugly, real fast.

FYI, unicorn types are still available in europe, however they are fully guarded.

Check out this rig for a firewood maker, cordwood saw and unicorn in one.

I heard they also make the wood hard to handle because it splinters and makes it real stringy it so bad when it splits it.

Used one on the pto for two seasons until I could afford something else. Very unforgiving. You should see it when a piece gets stuck on the the cone. You can appreciate the force of it then. Agree with all the above advice against using one. Recommend staying far away from that type.

I have the "Bark Buster" PTO log splitter. Dangerous but can split a LOT of wood fast! I enjoy using it.

Had a bark buster also. Agree it was fast. All the little pieces made great kindling. Benefits just didn't outway the risk IMO.
