Thinking of ordering a pair of Cat 2 Pats Quick hitch system. Can I use a set of cat 2 bushings on my implement? Are the Pats sized to accept them?

Just bought a used Hardee ditchcutter for my JD 4010. I've been told there is alot of pull on the outside arm on the cutting side and the bushings might help with the strain on that side.

Thanks

I have the pats cat 2 quick hitch and use the cat 1 bushings on my cat 1 implements, much better fit with them.

Not sure what you mean by "Cat 2 bushings". If you mean bushings that fit on a Cat 1 lift arm that increases the lift arm's diameter to a Cat 2 size then it will work perfectly for using a Cat 1 implement on a Cat 2 Pat's Quick Connect.

CountyLine® Category 2 to 1 Lift Arm Bushing - Tractor Supply Co.

Its the type of bushing that has the knob on the end of it is the best way I can describe it. It fits over the pin on the implement that the 3 pt hitch arm hooks to.

A farm buddy of mine has the same cutter and he said there is alot of side pull on the pin on the cutter side.

He has had snap pins break on that side and was thinking the bushings with the knob would be a stronger solution.

This is an older unit before they made everything a quick hitch. Had it been a QH as you are aware the pin would have been boxed in on the implement.

I believe those QH pins with the shoulder (knob on the end) are Cat 3. Those solid QHs use them. I ordered a couple for the same reason you are considering. Those ended up being Cat 3 and didn't fit the Pat's Cat 2 that I have. Searched and searched for a smaller size but couldn't come up with any results.

A solution to the issue is to use the heavy duty lynch pins (black). The Pat's comes with a few washers that work as a "shoulder". I fabbed some of my own out of grade 8 large washers and have not had a problem with any breaking or disconnecting. Plus, the new Pat's design has a way to lock in the release lever thus securing the lift pin.

Thanks for the info GW. Your plan sounds like the one to follow.
