I was recently hired to get rid of mountains of tumble weeds. They were piled up completely covering about 200 yards of 8 foot fence about 30 foot wide. I made a pass down the middle of the weeds with my Rears SPF flail about 2 feet off the ground. The biggest problem was the weeds not wanting to go under the shredder and balling up between it and the rear tires but I made it through. then I set the shredder down and made another pass over the same cut and shredded them down to the dirt. Then it was just a matter of having the weeds pushed into the cut section and going over them. I was really surprised at what a neat job it was when I finished. Sure was thankful to have my son and nephew on the rakes pushing the weeds for me.
I wish I had taken before and after pics but when I'm headed out to do a tractorin' job, a camera is the last thing on my mind.

a plus in this job...
the dry weeds cleaned out my flail perfectly. the knives and the underside of the flail looked like they had been sandblasted clean. Pretty and bright.

That sound like a great adventure. I've done the same thing with my JD riding lawn mower to a two acre pasture where the field grass is about 18" high. The exciting part being - hoping there is nothing hiding in the grass - I was fortunate, I hit nothing and the drive belt is still in one piece. I've yet to find a pto driven rear cutter that I like and is available. Still looking for a dealer who handles Brown Mfg cutters.
