Have to put in a 3 acre lawn. Terrain is too uneven to rent a grain drill. Was thinking of using a spreader on my ATV. Don't know if I should go mounted or tow behind, but I'm favoring mounted. Thinking about handing it off the front rack so I can see what I'm doing. Thing is that I can't tell what brands are good or junk. I'd like to buy a better one so I can use it for years spreading fertilizer and sand on the driveway. Any suggestions?

I been doing quite a bit of research on this and was looking for a front mount one as well so I could keep a sprayer on the back of the ATV. I have read a ton of reviews them and almost all the models have hit and miss reviews on them. Some say they need a deflector, others say mounting hardware sucks, etc etc.

I was looking long and hard at the Fimco ATV spreader and the Cycle country 4s spreader. Both have adjustable motor speed which I thought would be great to have. After measuring them out I concluded they would just be way too big for me to mount on the front of my ATV. I wouldn't be able to see and would stick out a mile.

I decided to go with either a Buyers or Earthway ATV spreader. The hoppers are much smaller so it will be easier to mount on the front and less intrusive. The plus side is they are considerably cheaper but the down side is that they don't have adjustable speed.

Funny. Like you two - I looked for some kind of spreader - either front or rear - for my ATV. I was initially going with rear only but because of limited product I added front. What I found was either too big or looked - on paper - like a waste of money. I still have my little 14" wide push spreader and all I can say for that is - I get a lot of exercise fertilizing a big lawn. I found a really nice one for my tractor, if I wanted to seed/fertilize the west 40.

I have had a Worksaver Worksaver ATV Seeder/Spreader for 10 to 12 years and it has worked flawlessly. It will hold 50# of fertilizer or 25# of grass seed (31 fescue). Speed can be adjusted but I normally run it wide open.
