Ok. I've heard lots of rumors and have pretty much been on the sub- frame band wagon myself But I have yet to see a 3 point backhoe damage a tractor. I'm not saying it does not happen, just that under normal, heck even rough use (with outriggers) down I don't know of 1 single reliable report. I have seen on this website a frame mount factory backhoe snap a tractor in the middle. If I'm off base feel free to correct me. But I'm just wondering if all the sub-frame hype is all that it has been built up to be. Especially on today's modern tractors.

Lets try it....on your tractor!!

Too much money in my tractor to take chances for me. I hire any backhoe work done. If he hits something it is on him.

I chose the subframe mount since I operated Backhoes and Loaders professionally in my younger years and have seen (and done) damage to a machine just operating normally. I am not as rough and tough as I once was but rather safe than sorry!!

Never seen or heard of a tractor 'broke' from 3pt backhoe but I am sure they are plenty!!

My neighbor has a late 80s Kubota with a 3tp backhoe attached. It has a HARD 6000 hours on it, and other than the 2nd stage boom braking in half and being rewelded, has has yet to have any other issues

For the old iron tractors, I too have seen 3 PH backhoes used for years with no damage but those old farm tractors were built out of good stuff and LOTS OF IT. I am not sure a CUT would fair as well which is where I think the sub-frames came into being. I wouldn't use a 3 PH backhoe on any of the CUT tractors but on full sized tractors of yesteryear, I wouldn't hesitate to put one on. I really haven't looked hard at the new AG tractors of today to see if they are still heavy cast iron/steel bodies and steel frames like tractor as late as 80's models but I would assume that they are since weight is needed for traction on those beast.

Wonder which one would be better would love to see how much easier it is to put on one versus the other. I've heard both can be a real pain I've also heard both can be very easy

this might be a little off subject, I have run a 3ph fransgard winch on my Kubota b7800 scut (30 hp). tractor with loader weighs around 3000lbs. winch has 7600 lbs pull capacity all on the 3ph with no sub frame, just the dozer blade/spade on the winch to anchor it. run it ALOT over the past 3 to 4 years with no visible damage yet. I am assuming that the forces of a winch are a little bit similar to a backhoe. I have always wondered since Kubota tractors are usually the lightest of the manufactures if that doesn't play to the tractors advantage when these pull forces are put on them by allowing the tractor to slide or move easier then a heavier tractor thus allowing the 3ph or tractor frame to not take all the brunt forces before something gives.

It seems the 3 pt would not be nearly as solid of a mount. I will take my frame mount any day.
