ATLAS box scrapers???

Does anybody know anything about ATLAS box scapers. Are they any good and how about replacements. The one I've seen in a picture looks good but what do I know. It weighs 410 pounds for a 5'er and costs $328 not counting shipping. No tax. I don't know how much shipping would be. I wanted to find out something about these scrapers before I call. This is from Hardy diesel, somewhere in So. Cal.
Is Atlas a good brand and if so does this sound like a good price.

How much would 410 lbs. cost to ship?
I believe an "everyday" price @ Quality Farm & Country for 5' KingKutter is $299. I like this company... lots of bang for the buck.

Just read this and tweaked my interest. I just, last week actually, ordered my 4100 w/FEL and am looking at implements/attachments. I like what I see on the King Kutter, but know nothing about them. Primarily their finishing mowers. I would like to buy the same brand/line if that's practical and, hee hee, I do like the color! Kinda Deereish yellow... How do these products measure up with the others? I've been leaning, so far, with LandPride.... Thanks!

Rule of thumb for ground engaging equipment... the heavier the better... box blade, rear blade, potato plow etc.

I've got a KingKutter 6' rotary cutter, a friend has a MD John Deere XXX?(forgot number)... my friend is "very" impressed with the KingKutter. 1/4th of what he paid. Another friend has the 6' KingKutter finishing mower and it's beautiful, especially @ $995. They could easily get 1600 - 1900 for that... same with the rotary cutters, they're very underpriced for what you get. Absolute sleepers!

I like the bush hog box blade, but I really like the Kingkutter box blade for 1/3 the price and decent quality for the money.

Don't get me wrong, you can buy a bargain and get "junk"... that lasts a few times, welds break, steel bends, etc. I've never found any of those problems with KingKutter. Also the people at KingKutter are "approachable", you can talk to the engineers on the phone like everyday people. Did I say I like this company!

I've been getting a little edgy the more I price things. This venture could get expensive and there's such a range in pricing! Something a bit cheaper would help if it's still good quality. I'm graduating from the garden tractor arena into the compacts, so I'm spending a good bit of time researching. I looked up the dealers and found one just down the road, so maybe even better! I'll go tommorrow and take a looksee.

I too have a JD4100, and I have a 54" Landpride boxblade. This is about the largest size blade I would want to use on a 4100 for heavy use of the scarifiers. I really have been impressed with the overall quality of the Landpride. I also have a Landpride 5' rear scraper blade. But, I have looked at the King Kutter line, and it also looks like good quality stuff and at a real reasonable price to boot.

I've not seen a Landpride box blade, but they have an excellent reputation, and what I've seen with their rear blades are impressive...

WHen I first got my JD 4300 I bought a new Atlas box blade that sounds like the one you are looking at. It worked okay but I got a chance to buy a used Gannon blade that weighs a little over 800 lbs. THe weight makes a huge difference. I got better at scraping and leveling in a hurry!/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif A tractor the size and weight of a 4300 will handle a lot more blade than the Atlas. We have a lot of clay in our soil here so the extra weight makes the blade and particularly the rippers work better. The frame where one of the lower link pins was mounted started to bend and I had only used it 3 months or so.

Gannon, now owned by Woods, is a premium industrial unit! If you can pick one up used, even "double" the price of a KK... absolutely buy it... built like a tank!

Jerry here. I have just about wore the name off the box, but it still looks like Atlas. I will buy a heavier one next time. I have the lift pin attachment points bent and the holes where the shanks go are elongagated. Buy quality when you get a box blade.
