Chipper PTO chipper/shredder

I just went and checked mine, and I was wrong. It's not the T3. It's a "Supergrind" and has the 10" wheel. So, I suspect it's the same model as yours. It's green instead of blue and I've had it for 10 - 12 years.

Yikes, I didn't know they had gone up so much in price. But they are great.

That's what mine is. I hadn't noticed that they changed the color, but you are right - mine's green too.

I too was surprised at the prices I see. My wife bought mine for me so I don't know how much it cost. I wouldn't have thought as much as the current prices, but she says it may have been close to that. She also says my estimate of age is off - it's more like 12 years +.

Terry, I think mine was about $400, which only included one or two of the basic jigs. Heck, I could probably sell it today and make a profit.

Sorry for hijacking the thread.

Pappy,

I see a charge in Jan 2001 to Garrett Wade for $583 categorized as "Christmas Gifts" that most likely is it. That would have included tax and shipping, and I think she included the planer blade attachment, which is pretty pricey, but very helpful for sharpening chipper blades. Don't know that I've ever used it to sharpen a planer blade.

I just picked up a BX42 from Woodward Crossings from the freight yard yesterday. Shipping was very fast and communication was superb. Great place to buy from.

They are a husband and wife team, nice people. Wife handles the computer and money, husband handles the equipment. Shipping would have been ~$250 for me. I was able to pick it up cheaper, not including my time, and I didn't have to take any time off from work to meet a delivery truck at my house either. It was about 4.5 hours each way for me. I left at 4am and was back home before 2pm.

And I also got a second set of chipper baldes for free!

I think for many of us 9 hours of driving for $250 wouldn't be worth it. Heck, at 15mpg, 60 mph, $4/gal diesel, 9 hours would represent about $150 in FUEL alone, not to mention all the other sundries (oil, tires, etc.).

It worked for me. I actually rented a truck, as there is no possibility of it fitting in the trunk of my Honda Accord! I got a 2014 F150 with the 3.5L ecoboost an averaged 19mpg.

1 day rental from Enterprise ~$65
560 miles round trip/19mpg=29.5 gallons*$3.80/gal=$112

So I am ahead about $70 over shipping. It did take a good portion of the day for me, but it was a weekend. If I had to take a half a day off for work to meet the truck, not only would I be paying the $250 for shipping, I would be losing $200 in salary (or using precious vacation time).

Woodward Crossings loaded the chipper into the truck, and when I got home, I backed it into the garage and used a chain hoist to lift it, drove the truck out, and lowered it right into my garage next to my work bench!

You might have to cut down the PTO shaft a couple inches for the GC2300. The shaft supplied with mine was too long, not allowing the the 3PH to fully raise.

*edit* or you may not have to with the QA on the back

Your got it. I would definitely have to take a couple inches off, if I weren't using the QH!
