TSC caryall ballast barrel

Took a TSC caryall, 55 gallon barrel, quickcrete, angle iron, scrap treated deck board ends, a bunch of old brake rotors and hub bearings, piece of chain I found in a field, a few other pieces of flat iron and 2 rattle cans of Cat yellow from TSC = this.

Scrap piece from cutting a hole in top and some nylon webbing made a great ninja shield too.

Don't know. The carryall says 80 + lbs on TSC sight. I added a good bit of metal to it beefing it up. 14 - 60 lb bags of quickcrete. 4 old hub bearings, 6 old rotors, and a few other random pieces of scrap plus a 20 foot chain. I'm hoping I got 1200 lbs or so from this.

Be careful - The carryall was only rated for 500# IIRC. I bought one and bent it to H*** carrying a deerstand into the swamp.

I see you've beefed it some. You can never get enough beef (unless your a vegan...).

I added 3 pieces of heavy angle underneath as well as the 3" diagonal pieces and beefed up where each pin is. We will see what comes of it!

That's got to be an easy 1,200lbs....nice size. The cool thing is you can still use the carryall without it if you need to.

Thanks, that's what I was hoping for. I put the chain on top to make it easy to get the barrel off.
I've got a sprayer that will fit on it that I use a lot that will be handy.

A metal barrel full of concrete and nothing else weighs 855# by calculation. The local grain scales are too far away to make a run with the tractor and putting my barrel of concrete in the pickup does no good. I've always used 855# for a barrel full and 150# per cubic foot for concrete.

Do you plan to upgrade your method of fixing the barrel to the carry-all, or is the nylon rachet strap the final solution?
I'm just wondering what effects UV and friction will have over the proposed life of the unit, and whethera chain and load binder arrangement wouldn't give you the best of both security and portability.
