bcp, I gotta tell you, you need to so some serious spelling review. This is a SCRAPER. And STRENGTH is what it has. And we won't even go near starting sentences with a capital letter... or other lack of capitals. Guess I'm a little offended that you used TBN to advertise world wide for an item which clearly is already your personal item. And, if not your personal item, am wondering why you bothered to put on TBN.

LIGHTEN UP, did you notice your spelling error in your first sentence?
I doubt this is bcp's scraper and would assume he posted these pictures because a lot of people on the forum seem to be interested in these drags. The text is pasted from the ad so that isn't bcp's either.

In the past without enough resources to do better I have used a tree top, piece of fence, and various steel framed gates to drag and smooth with. None of this stuff works as well as a land plane or box scraper. BTDT.

I agree and would add that $600 would just about pay for materials on a good 6' land plane build. I did get a kick out of the pictures, redneck engineering at its finest.

bcp thanks for the Craigslist link even if the float designer can not spell. I can see how it would be handy in a nursery setting.

Not offended. I just got a chuckle out of the comments.

I thought it was in interesting variation on the "2-beam" scraper design. Many early farm implements used to be all wood, then later wood reinforced with steel, like this one.

Do a Google image search for "King road drag" to see a very effective angled "2-beam" wooden scraper with a steel edge.

I've been thinking about a wooden road drag, just because I like working with wood in the age of steel implements.

We maintained a dirt road for 10 years with a similar drag idea.
Our design had 3 scrapers, made from 6 x 6's with steel cutting edges.
We pulled with an old Willis jeep and used tires in line with the pull chains in order to absorb the shocks.
With 3 'blades', one scalping the bumps and the other 2 evened things out. (no wooppee doos)
We had discovered that 2 blades would retain the ups and downs while 3 really evened the road just fine.
