Does anyone have experience with one of these?

Wood Chipper 4" Diameter (GFWCX4) - Value Leader Implements

I have a 27 engine HP Yanmar and 20+ acres of mostly wooded land. I cleared a 2 acre house lot years ago that I neglected and has grown in. I re-claimed a lot of it with my rotary mower, but there are some dense stands of 2-4" white pines that I can't knock down with the mower. I really don't want to go back to the huge brush fires that I used to have. I don't think I could get away with it anymore.
I know very little about chippers. The capacity of this machine will work. Direct drive seems to be a plus. Is it? I'll consider it paid for, if it can clear the lot.
Any thoughts on the quality? I'd probably spend about 50% of the purchase price on a weekend chipper rental and a couple of guys to feed it. I just can't do the physical labor like I used to. Thanks.

I know nothing about chippers, but I've got to believe there is a reason why this one is $1,350 and a Wallenstein BX42 is $2,800.

We all get to make our own choices on how to spend our money. If it was me and I just wanted to clear that lot, I'd think about buying a Wallenstein and then selling it when I was finished and recouping most of the cost of it.

Try calling your local fire company to do a controlled burn. If they have access to the lot, it's far enough away from roadways and you give them enough of a donation, they may just take care of this for you. My brother runs a fire company and offered to do this for me, but it's a LOT of debris from approx 150 trees. Plus, I don't have a driveway yet which complicates matters.

I have a Wallenstein BX42 and it is an outstanding implement. I'm just guessing but I think you would recover a great deal of your original outlay if you use the Wallenstein for a while then go to sell it. I was looking for a used one here in SE WI for a while before I just broke down and bought a new one.

The chipper just makes such easy work of dealing with the pain in the neck brush. Since I bought mine last fall, I have at least 100 hrs of chipping time. And 100's to go lol. IMHO totally worth it.

I want to admit up front I know nothing about chippers.
That said, I've had a Value Leader flail a few years.
I've also paid rapt attention to the flail threads, especially touting other brands
I have to say that from what I have read, my Value Leader had been as reliable, or better than the other higher priced flails. Any problems I can trace back to my own use (abuse). Unlike some, I'm still running original belts.

As I said, I know nothing about chippers, but I sure wouldn't give much credit to someone that didn't have actual experience with a brand, opinions are often worth what they cost.

I prefer a belt drive off the gear box. If a log does get jammed, you might smoke the belts, but unlikely to be any other damage.

I've had only Wallenstein chippers. First the BX42 - now the BX62. I've never had a moments problem with either. I chip 99.9% Ponderosa pine with an occasional fruit tree from my orchard. I know that Wally's are one of the most expensive but you usually only get what you pay for - sometime and only if you are lucky.

I have broke a few shear pins on the bx42 attached to the M7040. Not once on the B2920.

Betst Products LLC sales is located In Creswell Oregon right down the street from me that markets the Value Leader brand. I am also in the market for a wood chipper, and I am fortunate enough to have stopped in there to check them out first hand. Since they are also local to me I can also catch a break on shipping. Of course as I am looking at them banded in crates, it doesn't tell me a lot of how they will perform or hold up, so I have yet to pull the trigger. Although they are local, appear solid enough, and the pricing is quite attractive, I'm still leery, and leaning toward ordering a Wally for no other reason than my perception of Chinese quality against Wallenstiens reputation.
