I have a Woods 1009 FEL that the bucket doesn't operate properly. It wouldn't go up or down, but it would tilt with no trouble. I thought it might be in the linkage but I couldn't see any problem with it. This happened the last time I used it, but then it started working properly. I tried again today with the same results. I haven't put a load in it since this happened and I don't want to make things worse but I'm not sure what to check. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Ed

Check those QD for correct operation. No flow, no action.

Is the spool for the bucket moving equally in both directions?

Is the spools cable operated?

I can check the QD, I know what that is.

What is the spool? Would that be the part of the valve that regulates flow? If so, it does move equally, and appears to be operating correctly.

If you install a 3000 hyd gage in a tee in the IN port of the FEL valve, you can see when and if you have pressure when using the loader.

If you have no pressure when pushing of pulling the lever, then you know why nothing is working. Check QD's, pump, reservoir, etc

If you have pressure and nothing is working, then you know something is blocked, and then I would check all the QD's and see if the return hose is clear and open to tank.

Yes, the spool is what routes the fluid.

In an open center hyd system, if the pump is pumping, the fluid is going somewhere.

If all valves are in neutral, the fluid is passing through all valves to tank.

Last week I cleaned the outside of the QD's, disconnected them, cleaned the inside and reconnected everything. The inside looked fine but I wiped it down anyway. I used the tractor several hours over the last two days and haven't had any problems. I wish all my problems were this easy to fix.

Thanks,
Ed

Eddie, you have probably solved your loader problem by the time you read this. I had a similar problem with my little Kubota except mine would tilt, but would not go up and down. It had worked fine the day before.

At the suggestion from another post I read, I disconnected the QD's so that I could get to the male side of the connectors. There is a pin looking "thingey" (note the highly technical terminology used here, pay attention you will need it later in this post) that protrudes from the center on the male fitting. Take a hammer (smaller the better) and tap those "thingeys" straight backward into the fitting. Just lightly, not much is all it takes. This "thingey" seals the fluid and sometimes these hangup. Once I did this my loader resumed normal operation. Might try it.

I knew exactly what you were talking about. I think just disconnecting and reconnecting did the same thing. If it happens again I will look for my little hammer... been a long time since I used the little one.
