Concrete mixer (PTO)

Thanks guys, sounds like I need to do some more homework on this project. I know its a lot of work to mix and pour, but my labor (me) is free and dumb enough to take on a job like this. I was just going to use a 2x4 to screed off the top, so it won't be slick. I won't use a finisher, since its just a driveway.
However, if the numbers add up... I won't take this project on.
I'll do some more price shopping.
Thanks guys,
Mach

An couple options I would look at: (1) Wait 'til the teens move out of your house and driveway, they WILL drive off the edge of even a 20' wide slab. (2) Think about an asphalt (blacktop) driveway. Lots less labor intensive and paving firms around here are looking for small jobs such as yours for fill-ins. Also, check with your local property tax people. Here they love to tax for concrete drives, but they don't consider asphalt to be permanent, so it doesn't show up on your tax statement....Dan.

If you have access to 1/4 minus granite. It makes a great driveway surface. My front yard is 150x60 with two lane turn driveway. The more weight you put on it, the harder it gets. Rain soaks through, no mud. Hit with a blade once a year if you want to, I haven't done mine in for a couple years. It takes a good size tractor to rip a granite driveway. Put up a border to contain it almost maintenance free. After 10 years I added another 5 tons. Granite comes in different colors, tan, gray, pink like mine, cheap $.

How I set it up:
I placed grapefruits on the ground and used my pickup and wifes car. I kept driving in a circle testing the width. When I drove over a grapefruit I changed the shape, when I ran out of grapefruits and quit.

The block border is cap blocks, solid. I scraped the ground with a flat nose shovel for the footing, about 1 1/2". Made the ground prided wet before laying block. I used no gravel, straight sand and cement. Electric mixer. I've driven over the border many times with a truck with a weight of 7,420lbs. You can see after about 15 years it still looks good.
