Looks like a well built piece of equipment, not sure how much use the arm out the back would be.

If that pipe on the end of the boom is a lally column, at that distance it could add a few hundred pounds of downforce on the cutting edge of the blade. it looks to be about twice the distance from the blade as the blade is from the 3 pt hitch pins. That pipe would also act as a gage wheel, lifting the blade if the front wheels rose on a bump, giving a smoother result.

I can't tell if the pipe is flexible up and down at the connection to the blade. If it is I think the pipe would act as a final smooth tool and on the last pass lift the blade and drag the pipe. Neat idea, but I wonder if the pipe can easily be removed and if the blade can rotate completely around?

I think it might be a "gage wheel" and a smoother all in one. It would certainly keep you from cutting to deep at the start of a hump like Baby Grand says. And it could flatten the berm of dirt comming off the end of the blade.

I sure would like to see a closeup of the connection. If the pipe can only go a limited distance down then the top tilt of the blade will dictate weather the pipe will drag or be suspended in the air as weight. If the pipe cannot move up or down at the connection then it would be a "gage wheel".

Seeing that the blade is setting all the way down (and tilted forward) and the pipe is still on the ground it would have to be a drag only, unless a pin can hold the pipe at certain levels.

I can see where an adjustable height pipe would add versatility to the blade as long as the total length was not a factor.
