Wondering how these hay rakes operate. Do you just drop your 3 point as low as it will go and let the wheels ride on the ground?

Two in my area for sale, looking at getting the Cheaper of the two, any more info would be great.

Thanks

Do you have a picture? I use this old john Deere rake and adjust the length of the top link so that when I lower the 3point all the way the rake teeth are just barely scraping the ground.

Ya you bet it's just like that one. How do you like it?

Draagyn, is the rake powered by the pto or is it ground driven? That will determine how you raise and lower it. There should be some adjustment screws that lower the rake teeth relative to the position of the wheels. They are very good and durable rakes and do an excellent job. Wjones

The one in my picture is pto powered and works very well. My neighbor has basically the same rake but is a pull behind with a single wheel in the front and two in the back. It is ground driven and I prefer it slightly to mine but the three point does the job and does a good job.

Wmonroe, thanks for your comments. The one I'm looking at it pto.

If anything I thought that pto and 3 point would be nicer, same speed around corners and lifting up.

What do you like better about the pull behind ground driven?

Just personal preference. Both work just fine

How much would you pay for this one? Good overall shape, good tires, 6 missing tines, spare belt.
I'd just have to modify for my 3 point.
Please specify currency.

Thanks

That looks to be in pretty good shape. What do you need to modify?
