Finally gave in and bought a PTO chipper

/ Finally gave in and bought a PTO chipper #31
Got my WM8-H 2 days ago, in Kubota orange. Hooked to a Kubota MX5000. Had to cut the included shaft an inch. Very, very nice and sturdy chipper. Can't go wrong with the Woodmaxx.

I saw this thread on Sunday -- it reminded me to check Craigslist for a PTO chipper/shredder. I'd been looking for about 5 months locally for used Bearcat or Wallenstein, but hadn't seen anything with a shredder at a reasonable price. Sunday I found a Bearcat 73554 (old model number of SC5540B) on CL for $2k. This is the version with the blower chute. It was 175 miles away, which around here is "fairly close". Went to look (with a trailer) yesterday. It was clear that this thing hadn't been used much and not even a scratch in either hopper. So I gave it a ride home.

You got a good deal on that! I paid $2600 including shipping from WI to OH for mine. That chipper will give you a workout!! I love having mine - a couple of weeks ago I cut some brush out of our woods to make a bit of a trail. Hauled the brush out into the yard and the next day got rid of it all in about 30 minutes. SWMBO was pretty happy about that! :)

If anyone is looking for a nice chipper, here's a link to an ad on CL for one close to me. I know the guy that owns this and he takes super-great care of all of his equipment. Pequea makes chippers for Frontier. This one is the equivalent to a Frontier WC-1105.
