A coworker decided to do a little trimming of brush and limbs in the old Fence row next to our fire house. I decided to go out and watch more than assist, but on the other side of the fence the neighbor had a old Massey disk setting there I had looked at it before so I knew what it was just had forgot all about it. So as we messed with the brush I told him I should go see if they want to sell it, just so happen about a half hour later they came home so I walked over and asked. He said 250 , I thought that was a decent price, I knew it had a couple of broken blades but that's not a big issue bearings all turn smooth and free.

Wow, that's a great deal. The discs don't even look very worn. And it's got scrapers on it too. Great find!

Ok thanks again, I need to get a gang apart and see what i will need and go from there. I thought about replacing all the front blades and use the old front blades for the rears that need replaced.

You need the pans to be approximately symmetrical in diameter across the Disc so the implement will pull straight. If one side has larger pans they act as rudders.

i.e: The LEFT side should be more or less a mirror image of the RIGHT side.

I thought about replacing all the front blades and use the old front blades for the rears that need replaced.

In principle, I agree with putting new, sharper pans on the front and having all old pans on the rear, but see how hard it is to take your implement apart before committing to this plan.

If Shoup does not have the Massey-Ferguson replacement pans you need, Agri-Supply stocks over 500 replacement pans, however they are imported from China, India or Brazil.

Disc Blades, Disc Harrow Blades, Notched Plain Disc Blade | Agri Supply

I have bought blades, axles, bearings and associated parts for various sizes of harrows, numerous times over the years from ASC and had super service and parts. I usually buy the cheapest and mine have come either from Brazil or India. Can't tell the difference. Pay attention the thickness. The thin one, 3 MM I think, is a lot tougher than I expected and being thin it cuts easily.

Getting the gang off and opened isn't as bad a job as you might think. A good penetrating oil is a must. I have never had problems to the point where I had to heat a joint to get it to release.

Finally got around to fixing up the disc , I bought all new blades for the front gangs and used the best of the old ones to replace the missing ones on the rear gangs. I adjusted all the scrapers and tightened up any loose bolts, it's ready to hit the field now.
