Ordered Pat's ECS with stabilizer bar today for my dad for Father's Day. Seems like the perfect gift for a guy with a Mahindra 4110 with non-adjustable lower links. We shall see!

I expect he will be very excited to get them for a gift.

Take your time and play with the shimming so the new ball is straight behind the one in the arm. We needed the Cat 2 which had four tapped holes one each side of each one (16 holes total) but it came with 8 bolts and jam nuts. I bought 8 more bolts and 16 more nuts and that made it much more stable with the very heavy 7' bushhog trying to flop around on very step slopes and when using the 8' box blade as a dozer.

Use it some then readjust and retighten. After the 3rd time we were good to go but ours is a 60 HP tractor with heavy 3PH implements. The extra 4" of space between the tires and bushhog really makes connecting the PTO much easier too.

I got my Pat's Easy Change a few months ago. This should be standard equipment on all tractors. I had always fought with my ripper box to get it to line up before. I just backed up to it and....click.... I'm attached. I couldn't believe it.

The ECS I ordered Friday 6/11 just came in today Tuesday 6/15. Quick!

Unfortunately, unless someone around here decides Father's Day gifts can be opened early, we'll still have to wait until this weekend to actually see, handle, install & see him get to use it!

Just do it and give him a photo on Sunday with a big smile on his face. Remember you can spend a few hours of testing, adjusting and retesting in case you do not live really close.

We had to change out the non standard 3PH pins on 35 year the heavy duty bushhog to use Pat's Quick Hitch but this would have been the case for any QH system and was not related to Pat's design in any way. The new Bush Hog brand 8' box blade connected like a charm.

Get it set up once correctly then you should be good to go but do practice with each piece of equipment with your dad just to make sure.

I suggest replacing the keeper pins with bolts with jam nuts to better support the bent washers. In heavy brush I had a keeper pin flip open but I caught it before it came off. On the bushhog style mower I needed a big washer on the inside to make sure everything cleared well when lifting.

When you get there all these kinds of things will become clear as to how to make things as safe as possible.

The extra 4" between the equipment and rear tires is a huge plus for me when connecting the PTO or adjusting the rippers on the box blade.

Have a great Father's Day

Update: Dad opened his ECS & we installed it. Installation went great.

So far we've only put the special washers on his disc, & then tried it out. The washers sit on the pins kinda crooker, angled inward that is, such that the amount of room left for the ECS to come up to the pin is very limited. It seemed like a 2nd person would be needed to stand there & sort of guide the ECS into place, or at least hold the washers vertical.

But, hey ... I just realized: Maybe we should install them upside down?!?! If the washers lean inward at the top, who cares??! (Edit: Actually, only "who cares", but this would actually let the ECS slide off the washer's bent rounded surface & into place) ... We will try this ASAP!

I just bought a 7' box scraper. It came with cat 2 clevis pins. I have a cat 1 3pt hitch. Will the cat 1 easy change work with a cat 2 implement?

No if i understand your question correctly unless you convert to cat 1 pins some way. My new 8' Bush Hog box blade came with a pin that was both cat 1 and cat 2.

Thanks for the reply, I just welded in some Cat 2 to 1 bushings. It would have been nice to have that option for the easy change. Hint... Might be something to think about.
