Re: Pat\'s Easy Change System - Order Online!

I just thought I would update everyone on my findings of Pat's Easy Change now that I have been using it for several months.

I still love it. In fact, Pat's Easy Change is the best money I have spent since buying my newest tractor. I only wish I had installed the system on my antique tractors years ago, I might use old iron more often. I have lots of toys, and the Pat's system lets me play with them more often with less fuss.

Just ordered a set. There was a little glitch with the online ordering process but Pat quickly fixed the problem with an email AND phone call.
I'm looking forward to using the product.

I got mine on the tractor now too. The one thing I don't get is what the screws on the rotating plates on top are for. I'm not using those.

zuiko . . . the instructions that come with Pat's Easy Change basically are worthless and it took me a couple months of use before my hand slipped while I slid in the mud as I was unhooking a post hole digger before I figured out what those little screw are for. If you leave the screws in, when you lift up the release and slide the rotating plate over, the screws simply hold the release lever in the released position.

Near as I can tell that is what they are for, and I now find them quite usefull now that I use them.

Re: Pat\'s Easy Change System - Order Online!

I just replaced a TSC Quick Hitch with Pat's Easy Change and would make these comments. Yes - the instructions leave a lot to be desired. The four screw/nut combinations for each side allow some change of angle so that you can adjust it to be more perpendicular to the link pins. This is important. Pat's works better if your attachments have various distance between pins. I had to take the TSC unit off for two of my tools and it fit fine for 4. With Pat's I can pick up everything but you do need something to keep the lift arms seperated until you can pick up the tool. I made a gismo with 2 pieces of pvc tubing that allows one to slide into the other, with a pin so that they can be set at several (predetermined) widths. I use this only until I am locked on to the tool, then pull the pin, slide the 2 pieces together and remove it. Its pretty rinky-dink, but works fine, and cost about $1.00. If the Quick Hitch unit will fit all of your tools (???) I think that it is a better choice and I have one for sale with 8 pin adapters. If not, Pat's is the only real economical choice, is very versitile, and I am very happy with it.

JerryT. . . I set my adjustment screws so that they are correct for the implement I use the most often (my mower deck) it puts the hooks slight off for a couple of my other implements but not so far as it becomes an issue.

Bob,
Prolly should have asked this BEFORE I ordered the system but now that I have it I'm not sure it will work with my Backhoe. Do you know if it will or not?
(my tractor is 70 miles from here at my camp so I won't be able to test it for a while)

Re: Pat\'s Easy Change System - Order Online!

I would guess it would work without any problems, but I don't have the same model tractor you do so I am not positive.

My neighbor was over at my house yesterday, he was looking at some of the custom wiring I did on my tractor and noticed the Pat's Easy Change on my lower links and asked about them. He seemed very impressed and may be added them. He has a backhoe that he occasionally uses.

There is no real reason why it would not work unless you have a problem mounting the backhoe about 2.5" farther back from the tractor because the Pat's system pushes every implement you have back about that far. The biggest drawback is that with a really heavy implement (like a backhoe) you move the weight back another 2.5" which might make your front end a little light.

Assuming you use a subframe mount, then I don't think they would pose any problem either.

My 3PH backhoe on the B2910 Kubota has two tabs [for lack of a better word at the moment] that the ball end of the lower arm slips in between. There is a spacer that also goes in there, and then a pin is pushed through a hole in one tab, through the ball end and the spacer, and through a hole in the other tab...

Whether Pat's ends would work at all, with the 3PH backhoe, would depend on how wide they are. In my case I doubt they would make hooking up the backhoe any easier, and it would probably be more difficult getting them in between the tabs than it is to get the standard ball end in there, followed by the spacer.

AT least that is the way I remember it! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Been about four months since I set the hoe in the corner of the shed...
