With just about five hours on my new Landpride LCR2072 managed to break one of the blades. My fault hit a rock.
It snapped about a foot off of one of the blades, made quite a racket and serious vibration.Dealer to pick up soon.
I don't believe it will be covered under warranty but we will see.
Next project;ordered the materials to start my tree shear build and will post on it's progress.

Thank goodness no one was injured. I've heard of guys having all sorts of difficulties with rear cutters but snap a blade. Are the blades brittle or was it just an unlucky hit?

I'd look carefully at the broken blade to see if there is any evidence of a pre-existing crack/fracture/flaw in the metal. I'm sure it's possible to break a non-defective blade, but it's unusual.

NEver heard of breaking a blade before. What size are the blades (width and thickness)?

I have hit a fair share of stumps and rocks and never broke a blade. The blades swing free and absorb lots of the shock. I did hit a giant chunk of concrete once and broke the blade bolt, and have seen bent blades, but never one broke clean off.

I've never heard of an LCR2072 before. Is that a typo? I don't even remember an RCR 2072 either, only RCF.

Is this a light duty cutter?

Broken rotary cutter blades have been reported on this and other sites not infrequently and quite a few highway departments have replaced rotary cutters with flail mowers according to some threads I've read. I've never broken one, but we don't have exposed rocks on our farms where we mow.

I miss- typed RCR2072,considered a medium duty 6ft.719lbs.
I never operate with any-one in the area and this is why.I have about 800hrs on my 5ft.Bush-Hog branded BH and was cutting the same areas.I have hit a lot of rocks ect.but rarely sheared a pin on the BH,this one has a slip clutch and didn't service because it was brand new.I don't believe the slip clutch would have helped anyway.

I have never broken a blade either. On an old Ford Linkbelt 6 foot finish mower I did "wad up a blade" once when I rolled a large rock under it. It smoked the belts in a hurry, let me tell you. The blade looked like a pretzel.

I broke a blade on our squealer. It broke right at the bolt hole.
