What size rear blade will best suit a 40hp, 66" wide tractor?

A rear blade should cover tires tracks WHEN SET ON AN ANGLE, protrude some when set "straight".

Measure your actual tire width. Book specs are for R1/ag tires. R4/Industrial tires are considerably wider.

You want a rear blade approximately 12" wider than your measured outside-to-outside tire width.

Jeff addressed the length issue. Just make sure you can spin it all the way around when it's hitched up.
Also, try to get as heavy a blade as you can afford - weight really helps the blade to stay down and cut.

Based on all the info that you have given, a Land Pride RBT3584 would be the Cadillac of the rear blades to use with what you have. An Everything Attachments blade as shown here would be the least that I would consider. But that is just me.

Get us some more info about what ,how and with what and we can do much better about getting you some advice that will actually help you. ;)

If this is for your Jubilee, then I would stick with something medium weight. The Everything Attachments blade linked above or slightly lighter, IMO. Unless your tractor has much more power than those I have used, I think a large heavy blade will end up limiting what you can do with it. I have a Ford 850 and use a 6' fairly heavy older Ford blade on it. It barely covers the tracks when straight, but I get by with it fine. A 7 foot blade would be better.

I use the Land Pride 3596 rear blade. Tire width is 80" - blade width is 96" - weight is 566#. Its totally reversible and can be offset and angled at the same time. This gets the blade well beyond the tire track when plowing snow. I think I would want a heavier blade if I used it for any dirt work.

If this blade is going to be mostly a "snow blade", please consider mold board height as well as length. From my experience, a blade height of 17-18" is preferable to lower heights when plowing snow. I would think a 7' blade with the above described height will be suitable for a 4wd tractor.

Good point. My 14" high moldboard "spills" a lot of snow over the top of the blade if we get deep, powdery snow.
