PTO Pellet mills

"..Half a ton a week? Are you cooking with those Pellets?..."

We don't burn them. We use them for litter box filler in an animal shelter. For some animals, wood pellets are the cheapest and best filler.

We get 4 or 5 pallets of 40 lb bags at a time. We tried getting in bulk ( a "super sack" on a pallet) but that didn't work out well in our situation.

I've never run across any place to get a super sack. How much does one of those weigh?

Something I've heard of people doing is having a gravity grain wagon to loan balk pellets in. Lets them dispense then a bucket at a time.

I don't know how much the super sack weighs. I will have to ask next weekend.

Either super sack or 40 lb bags, the stuff is delivered by truck. I'ts cheaper if one has a fork lift to off load- otherwise there is about a $300.00 extra charge for a lift-gate truck. I know it was a priority for the organization to get a fork lift to avoid that extra charge.

I think the stuff comes straight from the pellet mill, but I am not directly involved in procurement so I don't know all the details.
