I'm looking at buying a box blade. The one that Tractor supply seems pretty heavy duty. I'm looking at the 72" one. Anyone have experience with them?

As you already have a King Kutter 60" Box Blade I think you can figure the 72" Countyline (by Tarter in Kentucky) will be very close to the same quality.

Why not consider a Rollover Box Blade now that you have general Box Blade experience?

The TSC 72" box blade weighs 445 pounds. That puts it in the light duty category. I'd want something that weighed more if I intended to do any serious heavy work with it.

Just as an example, the Bush Hog SBX series 72" box blade is 550 pounds, and their MBX series 72" one weighs 640 pounds. My old beat up Gannon weighs about 1,100 pounds.

For a little bit more money, you can get a better blade.

Also, a box blade is one of the safest implements to buy used because any damage would be visible and apparent. Around here, I can buy a used medium duty box blade for the same or less as a new light duty one. And there are tons of them on Craigslist around here all the time.

When buying new implements, you pretty much get what you pay for. If you want to get a box blade that is actually going to be able to do some serious work easier, you need to be looking at something that weighs in around 150lbs per foot width. Most people don't want to pay for this (usually in excess of $2000)and either get lighter duty and suffer the consequences of having the lighter duty implement or find a heavy duty used unit for a reasonable cost.

As has been mentioned, good used heavy duty units are available and normally at a very reasonable cost.

Good luck with your search & decision. ;)

I bought the county line and hung suitcase weights on it. Then I proceeded to work the **** out of it. No bends and no problems so far. My only concern for you is that your 3800 is undersized for a 72" BB with the rippers down.

I believe that he has a Kubota L4060 on the way to replace his L3800.

Just my opinion, but I think that he should be looking at one of these.

We have several tractors and six box scrapers from light LMC to my favorite Land Pride HR3584. I HATED to spend the money on the heavy box scraper, resisted doing so for years. Agreed the "best" heaviest LP. Woods etc. is not going to be the right one for everybody, but buying the best, heaviest you can afford is often your best bet.

We added weight to a couple of our other scrapers help, but a heavy built unit works best for us.

I have no experience with a roll over box scraper, but a lot of very experienced like them, so I would sure give them a hard look.

I researched a lot when buying a BB. Got a thread on here with lots of discussion, specs, etc. I was looking for a heavy duty "built" model - not just branded as such. I went with the Woods BSM72 and it's a brute. I've treated it pretty hard on several occasions and it's not even flinched. One of my telescoping stabilizers did though (bent).

Check it out.

The TSC box is definitely light duty. Is probably fine for many people/uses, but it's not as heavy or beefy as better box blades.
