I am new to this and need help. My dealer just started selling this attachment, which is like a giant seven foot hedge trimmer. It can be used at angles from 90 degrees up to trim weeds and branches sticking out into the road, to horizontal to trim grass and cut out over the edge of lakes, to 60 degrees down to trim levees. It sounds great and looks great. However, has anyone here ever used one? Is it as good as it looks, and would you recommend it?
Thanks,

Welcome to TBN. Not sure what you are talking about , so could you post a picture of it, if not give us a web site so that we can preview it.

Sounds to me like he is talking about some sort of sickle bar mower.

I think that he is talking about a heavy duty (extreme duty) rotary cutter. I have seen such a thing in the logging industry. It can start at the top of a standing tree and grind it to bits right down to the ground. But there are probably smaller versions of it also. Just wait and see.

Hi, This unit is made in Italy, and looks like a giant hedge trimmer--the blade is very similar just 7 feet long. The company has a web page: http://www.gribaldisalvia.com
but it doesn't show much. My dealer said he sold five last week and everyone loved it. It seems to multi-functional that I am just about ready to get one.
If you guys aren't familiar with it, it must be a new import.
Thanks,

Would you please fill out your profile page. TBN is a good site for us weekend farmers. Lots of good times and info shared here. We would like to know more about you as to where you live and on how many acers etc. You have just shown us a tool that we did not know was out there. Thanks.

I kind of thought that what Redoak1 was talking about was a sinkle bar but that it would run at many different angles and high off the ground.
You would not beleive how many pitman arms(wooden) that I have made and put in a sickle bar mower. Been using them from horse drawn all the way up to 3ph balanced head.
