I'm sure u could do it if u have the skills, time and tools. I would see if u could use used steel. Its the same as regular but i can get it allot cheaper. Another good place to do a thread would be on build it yourself

As my buddy Jason says... 'we got welders torches and grinders, it ALL fits if you want it to!'

And my father in law and his sidekick from up the road... 'beat to fit and paint to match!'

My father in law has a mf 165 with loader, I'm sure it can handle a hoe, they are a stout mechine. Building the bracketry needed can't be that hard, just copy how others are made modified with a little common sense to fit your tractor. Take pictures and show us!

Tstre:

I owned a MF 165 a long time ago. I now own a JD 9300 Backhoe, which is similar to the JD 50. It is mounted on a JD 455D crawler loader.

JD hung the 50-9200-9300-9350 series backhoes on lots of machines in the 60's-90's.

My 455D provides 23gpm of hydraulic flow to run the backhoe; but it moves pretty fast at full flow. I suspect you can get by pretty well with 10gpm, but you will need about 2300psi to get full force from the backhoe.

My 9300 has the undesirable "barrel" swing motor instead of cylinders. Mine leaked badly when I got it, but new seals fixed it; they are a pain to replace.

I think the biggest drawback is weight. The backhoe probably weights over 3,000 pounds with a bucket, and that is hanging pretty far back on the tractor. JD put these backhoes on rubber tires tractors and both the 350 and 450 series crawlers, and the general opinion is that they are too heavy for the 350 series; they tend to overload the bearings in the final drives on the smaller machines.

Even with my 17,000 pound 455D and a 1 1/4 CY bucket on the front loader, if I drive forward up a fairly steep slope the machine will rear up on its rear sprockets.

So, I think you can make it work, but I suspect the weight will make you remove the backhoe unless you are using it; it is heavy and unweildy to lug it around on the 455D, and is likely to be much more so on the 165.

Good luck and send us some pictures.
